September Goals ~ Blogging & Personal

September goals - Blogging & Personal

Where did this year go? It’s almost Christmas and I am not ready! Christmas in my house is a whole production that takes months to plan. I’ve got to get on that! We have a four day weekend here in T&T and I so can’t wait for it. I’m considering stealing away on a small trip for that weekend. We’ll see.

Anyhoo! Enough about Christmas, let’s talk about how we did with our goals in August and what we have planned for September.

I was always a goals oriented sort of person. Even as a child, I set events and timelines to help me figure life out and get things done. Now that I’m doing this adult thing (thank God for giving me 33 years), goal setting continues to help me in my day to day. I feel like I’m actually doing something with my life and not just sitting on this blog all day. Although, I can’t say I’d complain if I could do that and live a fulfilling life. But, we’re not there yet!

So on to the important stuff. Let’s check on how we did in August first.

August’s Review:

  • Just to recap (you can see the entire post here), I seem to keep my posting and content schedule as planned. In case you didn’t know, I post every Monday and every other Friday. I’m thinking of posting twice every week, and maybe Monday and Thursday, instead of Monday and Friday. Hmmm, I’m not sure about that yet, but maybe for September. I have a bit of research to do before I do that.
  • My photography continues to get better, but I just need some inspiration. I’m taking less and less photos, so my Instagram is a daily scramble. Writing is coming along, but I need to release my inhibitions a bit more. I’m not as fluid with my writing as I’d like to be because I keep worrying that people who know me, that read my blog, will be judging. Stupid, but the fear is real.
  • My social media presence is growing, albeit slowly, but I’m glad for the little growth I’m seeing.
  • I did not exercise, create my home office or declutter. I failed miserably in these areas. My reading stumbled as well and I didn’t prepare for my tutoring this month. Ugh! How disappointing! I need to do better. My birthday was perfect though. I did JUST what I wanted to do. No pressure.

So, moving on to September….

Blogging Goals:

~ I’m focusing on only two things this month for the blog. First and foremost, to write how I truly want to write without inhibition. I’ve been a bit preoccupied with the content I put out, both on the blog and on social media, because I keep thinking my friends and family will read and judge. Whether it’s the content itself, my writing skills or otherwise. As Sean (my husband) pointed out, most of my readers (if not all) are people I don’t know. They should get to hear from the true me and not some shell of me. Not that that’s what has been happening, it’s just that there has been some reservations.

~ Continue to work on being more visible on social media with fun and relevant content. The world can be so sad sometimes, that I want my blog to be a place of escape, even if for a few minutes. Yes we talk about life, but it’s meant to be a positive space. I aim to keep it that way.

Personal Goals:

~ EXERCISE!!! OMG! What is wrong with me? I KNOW I need to work out. I need to keep active. So why am I NOT doing it? My word. It’s not even funny anymore. I really need to get on it.

~ Declutter! I feel like I’m a stuck recording now. I need to do it. The house feels heavier by the day. Things are coming in but nothing is going out. This month’s the month.

~ Get my little work space up and running. I know I’d be way more productive there. It’s just that where I plan to set it up, doesn’t have a TV. That’s a bummer!

~ Give tutoring my best shot. I’ve never taught a group of people anything, so this is terrifying. But working to help others become literate far outweighs my fears. So, full speed ahead with that.

~ Read! I have three books I’d love to get into. And just generally, be more aware.

~ And finally, focus on and further develop my meditation practice. I slipped a bit, and it has changed my life a lot. I am more worried, more pessimistic, more anxious, about life. Meditation and the premise it is based on changes my outlook on almost everything, which changes the quality of my life for the better in so many ways. I will attend dharma more often and work zealously at improving and maintaining good practice.

And that’s about it. Nothing fancy. See you in October when we do check ins! Have a great weekend!

What are your goals for September? Did you achieve your August goals?
