Golden Almond and Turmeric Latte Recipe

So apparently turmeric tea is an age old drink that is massively popular around these parts nowadays. I for some reason have never heard of any turmeric drink of any kind. No idea what rock I’ve been living under, but I stumbled upon this cup of goodness while rummaging around on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. I’ve heard the benefits of turmeric are endless!

Now, when I hear turmeric, I think of Asian food (which I love), but can’t really picture it in a drink. I pretty much fall for any hot drink, so I’d say curiosity got the best of me with this one. I mean, how bad could it be?

Turmeric is not something that I normally use in my cooking, but I think that might change. While doing some research, I learned early on that turmeric has a  multitude of benefits which includes aiding weight loss, healthy hair and skin and anti-aging. Mix it with warm milk and some spices and voila! You have the perfect comfort food! It’s a new favorite.

There are several variations of this drink, but the richer and thicker, the better for me. So I made mine as a latte. And I made the right choice. It was just, decadent!

Golden Almond and Turmeric Latte Recipe

Total time: 10 Minutes     ||     Yield: 2 small lattes

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups Almond Milk
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 small cinnamon stick or 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • Pinch of freshly grated ginger
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sweetener (I used coconut sugar.)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Blend all ingredients except the cinnamon sticks(if you are using the powder, blend it with other ingredients) until smooth. Pour into saucepan and add cinnamon sticks. Heat for 3 minutes or until hot on medium heat. Don’t boil. Drink immediately. I had some a little later and it wasn’t as good as when it just came off of the fire.

**Turmeric stains (it will fade over time), so be mindful. I only drink this in dark colored cups or bowls. These are my favs!

  8. Yum, this sounds like the perfect drink to try for fall (and a nice break from all the pumpkin spice lattes, lol)! The cinnamon and ginger both sound like perfect accompaniments to the turmeric. I agree that thicker drinks are better, especially if they’re meant to be warm – makes them seem more decadent.

Well… I guess I was doing it wrong. I add ground turmeric and a pinch of cinnamon in mine and some honey as well. I really like it as it is; I’m not a big fan of ginger, so I don’t know what to say about adding it into a turmeric latte honestly.
