A New Year Resolution, Yay or Nay?

A New Year Resolution, Yay or Nay?

Have you already set your New Year resolutions for 2018? I was an avid yearly goal setter and would normally stick to them, however I haven’t done them for quite some time now. I can’t that say I’ve missed them really, however I do think that I need a bit of guidance for 2018. And so here I am, back on the New Year resolution train.

  1. Worry less. Seriously, in 2017 I worried about everything and everyone all the time. And quite frankly my life was miserable! In the end, my husband always asks “was it worth all the worry? Did the worrying change the outcome?” Each and every time my answer is no. So! I’m working on that fervently this year.
  2. Get healthy. I have fallen so far off of the wagon that it seems like there is no retrieve for me. I eat more fast food, exercise less, socialize less. Ugh, the sad and depressing list goes on. I need to find ways to make healthy food actually taste good. Mealtime is important to me so I need to feel good about them. Right now though, I loathe veggies and most things good for me and so I promise that this year will be better. It has to be.
  3. Focus more on me. I usually take the place of the Knight in Shining Armor. I always ride in to save the day which as a result, has finally burnt me out. Through always focusing on saving everyone, I have given my peace of mind away. The cocktail of worrying, eating unhealthy and everything else, have hit a boiling point to which I need to control. Ultimately, there is no better time than now.

I’ve recognized my shortcomings and this year, I hope to possess the will to change them. Let’s see how this goes!

What are your plans for this year? I always love to hear other people’s resolutions.

Thanks for stopping by!

I completely agree with focusing on yourself more. I know it’s so easy to get caught up in other people’s needs etc but burn-out is not the one!

Wishing you all the best for 2018!

Great goals! Praying you are able to make some positive changes this year. ☺️

  3. Great article with great ideas. Happy New Year

  4. I think it’s always great to step back and reflect on what you really want from the year and your life in general. The other component is finding a way to keep the momentum of change and growth going and this can be different for everyone. I’m a big ‘list’ person so that helps me keep in check and on task. I agree that worrying can take up so much time and doesn’t usually pay off in the end!

Number 2 is a huge goal for me this year. I spent the majority of 2017 eating very unhealthy and since I’ve made the switch a couple months ago I feel 1000x better. Happy new year!

I need to be more intentional with my blog. I also want to establish a good bond between my boys and their sister that’s coming by the 21st!

  7. Beth says:

To be more consistent with my blog. And also to focus more on me and especially the things that make me happy (like my blog). Thanks for a great post!

  8. Love your goals for this year! I’m a huge goals gal. I love lists and I thrive when I have a plan. I haven’t set in stone my goals for the new year–I just have tons of ideas, but I’m with you on getting healthy, focusing on myself, and worrying less. I also want to focus on continuing to grow my blog in to something even bigger and better!

  9. Charlie says:

My goal for this year is chase after my dream of being a blogger full time with everything I have! Its so easy for me to get discouraged or feel like I am not doing as well as I should be and this year I am all about focusing on me!

I think it is important to create New Years Resolutions to stay on track! I looked back at my resolutions for 2017 and I nearly made all my goals except the working out! Making that a priority this year! Being my best self is at the top of my 2018 bucket list!

I prefer broad strokes for my new year’s resolutions too! Sometimes guidance is what we need more of! I know you can do it!

  15. Jamie says:

I love your focus on me goal! I really want to do that too! I just had a baby in July and I feel like I have zero time for myself which is why I’ve been trying to be intentional about carving out time to do things for myself! We don’t need to be the heroes 24/7! You got this! (also you have fantastic taste in books if you GR widget over there is any indication!)

  16. Ginger Smith says:

Instead of resolutions, I make a “goals” list, which I guess is basically the same thing! lol . I try to keep them simple and obtainable so I can actually reach my goals for the year. Your list sounds great! Happy 2018!

  17. I definitely agree with all of these resolutions. Because they don’t really seem like resolutions, they seem like lifestyle changes and I like that. Worry less is definitely on my to do list! I feel like all I’ve done for the last year is worry and stress. I want to get back into yoga and definitely try to eat better.

  18. I think those three resolutions are very attainable and should be on everyone’s 2018 Goals. Self-improvement is never a bad thing and can only help us lead more healthy and happy lives — and who wouldn’t want to do that? 🙂
